Four of a family shot dead

SHEIKHUPURA: At least four members of a family were killed in the Saddar area of Sheikhupura on Sunday when unidentified assailants barged into and opened fire inside their residence.
The deceased include two women, an elderly person and a child.
The motive for the crime is unknown and an investigation is underway, said DPO Zahid Nawaz Marwat. He added that forensics is collecting evidence.
According to reports, the multiple murders were the result of hostility after one of the victims remarried. The victims had also relocated from another part of the country three years ago.
Police officials said three other family members escaped the brutal attack as they were not at home at the time of the incident. They added that no suspects have been detained in the case till now.
Taking note of the incident, IG Punjab Dr Usman Anwar directed DPO Sheikhupura to investigate all aspects of the incident and apprehend the culprits. He stressed the importance of ensuring justice for the affected relatives on a priority basis.
Earlier. A man was killed over resistance during a robbery at his home in Tandlianwala, while his brother was critically injured.
According to the police, robbers entered the house by climbing over a wall in the 419GB area. They shot 40-year-old Muhammad Iqbal twice in the head when he offered resistance. –Agencies
