ISLAMABAD: Police have arrested four robbers, three of them are in injured condition, after exchange of fire in two different places of the federal capital. The encounter between police and gang of robbers took place within limits of police stations Noon and Ramna.
The detained robbers have been identified as Huzaifa, Zawar Ali, Sajjad and Muhammad Yousaf against whom cases were lodged with police stations concerned.
Noon police received a call that a gang of six robbers fled after mugging a citizen on gunpoint. Police teams immediately responded and started search operation in the area.
Meanwhile, police spotted robbers on a picket and tried to stop them on which robbers opened firing on cops. Police reteliated and shot and injured two robbers, he said.
Police took into custody the maimed robbers and recovered arms and ammunition from their possession, he said adding that another accomplice of the robbers was netted by police during a search operation.
The detained robbers have been identified as Huzaifa, Zawar Ali and Sajjad. He mentioned the detained robbers were involved in a series of crime ranging from murder, attempted murder and robberies in areas of Noon, Charsada and Lohibher.
The accused were also involved injuring citizens including women during dacoitees adding that they confessed numerous house and shop robberies. In yet another incident, he said three dacoits looted a citizen on gunpoint in Maira Abadi and were fleeing when police got a call from victim.
He said police placed Nakkas in the area and enhanced road checking to track the dacoits. He said police spotted three suspects riding on a motorcycle and signaled them to stop for checking. The suspects opened indiscriminate firing on police. Police also reteliated and hunted down a fleeing dacoit.
However, two other accomplices managed to escape from the scene while taking advantage of the darkness.
Weapon was recovered from the injured dacoit, identified as Muhammad Yousaf, and was rushed to hospital for medical treatment. According to police spokesman, Yousaf is a notorious dacoit and is involved in cases of serious nature including a wanted accused in PS Ramna for launching armed attack on police party. Raids were being carried out to arrest the fleeing dacoits. -Agencies
