Gen. Hassan meets tribal elders in SWA

RAWALPINDI: Corps Commander Peshawar Lieutenant General Hassan Azhar Hayat Friday visited South Waziristan Agency (SWA) and met Tribal elders, said a statement issued by Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).
According to the military’s media affairs wing, Corps Commander paid tribute to local people and tribal elders for their all-out support to Army in the war against terrorism and efforts to dismantle terrorist networks and infrastructure bringing peace and stability to the area. Tribal elders lauded the sacrifices and achievements of the army in creating an environment for socio-economic development and ensuring the security of people and the area, the statement said.
The locals resolved to stand shoulder to shoulder with security forces to maintain law and order and reap the dividends of peace, it concluded.
Last month, Lieutenant General Hassan Azhar Hayat had visited the family of Shaheed Captain Abdul Wali Wazir in Wana, South Waziristan.
The corps commander had paid tribute to the martyr and his family for making the “ultimate sacrifice” while defending the country, ISPR had said.
Shaheed Captain Abdul Wali Wazir was martyred while leading an intelligence-based operation (IBO) on Monday in the Boyya area of North Waziristan, in which four terrorists were killed.
According to the military’s media wing, Shaheed Captain Abdul Wali Wazir studied at Cadet College Wana, where his father is an employee. The main auditorium of the college has been named Abdul Wali Wazir Shaheed Auditorium, in memory of the martyred captain.
