ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has appointed Shahbaz Gill, who had served as a special assistant during the PTI government before its ouster last week, as his chief of staff.
A notification in connection with Gill’s appointment as PTI chairman’s chief of staff was issued on Wednesday as well.
As the chief of staff, Gill will look after the affairs of the chairman’s office and related activities. He will also be in charge of Imran’s security routine and political activities. Before Gill, late PTI leader Naeemul Haque had served as the chief of staff to the party chief. He died in February 2020.
Responding to the appointment as the chief of staff, Gill said like Haque, he will work hard for the PTI chairman and the party. He added that Haque had performed immense services to the cause of PTI.
Earlier in the day, Gill, whose name had been placed on the no-fly list, had gotten relief from the Islamabad High Court that had asked the Federal Investigation Agency to remove the travel ban on the PTI leader. –Agencies
