ISLAMABAD: The federal government has released over Rs 2.43 billion for projects of the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT) under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) during the first quarter of the ongoing fiscal year 2025–26.
According to PSDP data, Rs 111.77 million out of the authorized amount has been utilized so far for various IT-related projects.
For the current fiscal year, the government allocated Rs 16,227.493 million to the Information Technology and Telecommunication Division under PSDP 2025–26. Of this, Rs 15,777.493 million was allocated for ongoing projects, while Rs 450 million kept reserved for new initiatives.
The ongoing projects included the establishment of an IT Park in Karachi (PSEB), the Technology Park Development Project in Islamabad (TDP), the Digital Economy Encampment Project, the expansion of cellular services in Azad Jammu & Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan (Phase-VI) through the Special Communications Organization (SCO), the National Semiconductor Human Resource Development Programme, and the revamping of the IT industry.
The new projects included the National Artificial Intelligence Advancement Initiative, GDPR-driven ISCO compliance and IT export enhancement, and the Smart Islamabad Initiative.
