islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday commended Pakistan’s security forces for their successful operation in Spinwam, North Waziristan, which resulted in the killing of four terrorists linked to the Fitna al-Khawarij group. Two other militants were injured and arrested during the operation.
In a statement, the PM expressed his pride in the bravery of the security forces, highlighting their role in combatting terrorism in the region. “The entire nation is proud of the courageous soldiers who suc-cessfully neutralised the terrorists,” he said.
PM Shehbaz reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to eradicating terrorism, stating, “We will continue to fight against the specter of terrorism until its complete eradication from the country.” He also vowed to persist in dismantling the dangerous activities of Fitna al-Khawarij, a group believed to be behind multiple terrorist attacks in the region.
PM Shehbaz also left for Saudi Arabia on Sunday to attend the Arab-Islamic Summit in Riyadh, where key discussions on the situation in the Middle East, including Gaza and Palestine, are expected to take centre stage from Monday.
The extraordinary summit, convened by Saudi Arabia, aims to address the escalating crisis in Gaza and other pressing issues affecting the region. Heads of state and government from member countries of the Arab League and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) are gathering for the important forum. During his visit, the PM is expected to address the summit and hold bilateral meetings with world leaders on the sidelines, further strengthening Pakistan’s diplomatic engagement in the region. Ac-companying him are Information Minister Attaullah Tarar and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi.
Earlier, A day after the devastating terrorist attack at Quetta railway station, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi vowed to upgrade the professional capabilities of Balochistan’s law enforcement agencies (LEAs) to combat the menace of terrorism effectively. “The Centre will provide all-out support to the Balochistan government to maintain peace and eradi-cate terrorism from the province,” the security czar said in a meeting with Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti in the provincial capital on Sunday.
