GPS Gumbat struggles to bring change in paradigm

-Holds ‘Prize Distribution Ceremony’ to award talented students

BUNER: Government Primary School (GPS) Gumbat has broken the tradition that extracurricular activities are held only at Private Schools by organizing an event titled “Prize Distribution Ceremony” to award talented students on Sunday.
According to details, such activities are not usual within Government Schools and, traditionally, are organized by Private Schools in the area. Last year, GPS Gumbat had organized alike event for the first time.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest Zahid Khan has urged villagers, specifically local farmers to boost focus on children’s education as anyone can go for higher studies, citing his son Usman Ali’s successful journey begun from the said School towards MBBS saying currently he is doing House Job at Abbottabad Hospital.
The speakers also demanded provincial government, especially MPA Sayed Fakhar Jehan, to approve construction of additional Class Rooms as over 400 Students are accommodated in only 7 class rooms while having no Staff Room.

Water, Electric, Sports facilities were among others sought by School’s Administration to bring further improvement in the future. Contents of the event included National and Religious Anthems, English and Urdu speeches, Music and Stage Dramas.
Concluding the productive activity, Speakers and Teachers conferred Awards on top students while encouraging others to yield interest for participation in such fruitful events.
Speaking to Journalists after the event, Haider Ali – key organizer and Staff Member – has thanked all the participants including speakers for mass participation and extraordinary interest shown.
The ceremony was Presided over by Dr. Hazrat Rahman while Zubair VC Chairman, Fazal Rahman Vice Chairman, Educationists Hidayat Rahman, Anwar Zaib and Amir Zaman were key speakers. Among local Traders, who participated, were Yaramoos Khan, Parvez and Bakhti Zar.
