LAHORE: The Punjab government on Wednesday upgraded Gujrat district to division, said a notification issued here.
According to an official notification, a copy of which is available with The Daily Mail, the headquarters of the Gujarat division is made at Gujrat district and in the other 2 districts including Mandi Bahauddin and Hafizabad.
Punjab Governor Baligh Ur Rehman has given approval and issued the notification.
“In exercise of the Powers conferred upon him under Section 5 of the Punjab Land Revenue Act, 1967 (West Pakistan Act XVIl of 1967) and in supersession of all previous notifications / orders in this behalf, to the extent of Gujrat Division, the
Governor of the Punjab is pleased to order that Division”, the notification read.
It merits mention here that Punjab Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi’s native region is Gujrat and he is elected member of Punjab Assembly from PP-30 (Gujrat-III).
