GWADAR: The 7th Gwadar Book Festival 2022 kicked off at Rural Community Development Council (RCDC) in Gwadar City, Balochistan.
The four-day event has been organised by the district administration in collaboration with local welfare trusts to assuage the thirst of the book-lovers of the port city of Gwadar. Due to the corona outbreak, the annual Book Festival did not take place during the past two years.
The four-day Gwadar Book Festival was inaugurated by Former Provincial Minister Mir Abdul Ghafoor Kalmati along with Senator Kahuda Babar and Provisional Minister Zahoor Ahmed Buledi. Deputy Commissioner Gwadar Captain (retired) Jamil Ahmed has been playing a key role in the event.
“Reading is a good habit; the students should develop reading skills, which gives them the confidence of an expanded knowledge base,” said Zahoor Ahmed Buledi. He urged the young people of Gwadar to focus on their studies to get more benefits out of CPEC projects in Gwadar and beyond.
There are various stalls of books offering books at reduced prices. A large number of people including female students from the University of Gwadar thronged the Book Festival on the first day of the event. The stall of Pasni Sand Art Circle attracted a lot of visitors during the festival.
Senator Kahuda Babar said, “Gwadar has a rich history of knowledge and book reading; education is the first priority of our government, and we are preparing the youth of Balochistan to compete on a national and international level”.
Vice-Chancellor University of Gwadar Prof. Dr Abdul Razzaq Sabir who was invited as a prominent guest during the opening ceremony, said, “Libraries and book reading are the reasons behind the success of nations”. -Agencies
