Rawalpindi: Mohammad Haris smashed 79 off 70 balls but it went in vain as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) lost the match by 11 runs in last over finisher against Northern in National T20 Cup.
Haris Rauf bagged three wickets for Northern to help them restrict KP to 133-7 in reply to 145-runs target. The right-arm pacer conceded 28 runs at an economy rate of 7.
While batting first after winning the toss, Northern posted 144 for the loss of nine wickets with skipper Imad Wasim rescuing them in the end by scoring 36 runs off 20 balls with the help of six boundaries.
Zeeshan Malik and Umar Amin made 21 runs each for Northern.
For KP, veteran pacer Wahab Riaz stole the limelight by bagging five wickets for 21 runs. Imran Khan Sr, Asif Afridi, Iftikhar Ahmed, and Junaid Khan took a wicket each.
In reply, Haris helped KP put on a strong show with his 79-runs knock but couldn’t take his team over the victory line due to batsmen losing their wickets at the other end.
Apart from Haris, Imad bagged two wickets while Sohail Khan and Muhammad Musa shared a wicket apiece.
