Canberra: The Deputy Vice-Chancellor & Vice President (Global Engagement) of the Monash University, Prof. Abid Khan called on Mr. Babar Amin, the High Commissioner for Pakistan in his office today. Prof. Abid was accompanied by Ms. Joanna Donagan, Director Global Initiatives &Faculty of Medicines, Nursing and Health Sciences and Mr. Joe De Pasquale, Senior Manager, Government & Scholarship Engagement.
The High Commissioner lauded the commendable academic cooperation that exists between Pakistan and Australia.
He said that Pakistan and Australia have developed a long-term partnership in higher education which provides an excellent opportunity for collaboration in research and short and long-term training programmes for capacity building.
He encouraged the Deputy Vice Chancellor to consider opening the campus of Monash University in Pakistan and start research collaboration, faculty and student exchange programme with leading universities in Pakistan. He added that, the two sides have ample mutual opportunities to share experiences and learn from each other.
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor briefed about different aspects of research, education and international engagement at the University’s campus.
He said that there are ample joint research opportunities with Pakistan in different fields and that his University would like to build long-term relations with different universities in Pakistan for the common benefit.
He added that during their forthcoming visit to Pakistan, he would focus on exploring the possibility of joint research and collaboration with medical colleges and also initiating the students’ exchange programme with universities in Pakistan.
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor remarked that Pakistan has an excellent profile in terms of quality of students studying in Australia.–PR
