THE passing away of six patients due to oxygen shortage at Khyber Teaching Hospital speaks very loud and clear how the government needs to take immediate steps in order the tackle the health crisis in the country. All the six patients were admitted in the intensive care unit of the hospital designated for Corona patients. And the number of patients in the said ward are expected to go up than coming down. The elite class of the country can afford private hospitals but the poor are need of oxygen in hospital. This is the irony of this country. Forget above having equal justice for the both the classes, at the moment people want their loved ones to only survive during this pandemic. According to hospital sources the the oxygen tanks are brought from Rawalpindi and it’s delay caused the dearth of six Corona patients. One wonders whether the inquiry ordered by provincial health minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Taimur Jhagra about this sad incident will nominate those responsible or whether the lives of those six individuals and their families will go in vain.
Past record of our government run hospitals clearly shows that nothing happens to those responsible for this negligence but instead a file is made and stashed in the closets filled with dust. There is no doubt that the government run hospitals in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have improved but it does not mean that they can b given the license to kill patients. Inquiry to its final conclusion be made about this incident and those responsible must be given exemplary punishments. On the other hand all provincial governments and federal government needs to work in coordination and it needs to be done on emergency basis. Soon the crisis of delivering the Corona medicine to hospitals will begin. Every nation will be trying to make the availability easy for its citizens and we can be assured that our mafias have already planned to loot the poor of this country. It is still not clear how the poor nations will manage to keep the Corona vaccine available to its citizens but it is clear that it will not happen anytime soon. While Europe, Middle East and America have moved toward lockdowns, our political elites are gathering thousands of people to show them their new stunts. No body cares about the health of ordinary poor Pakistanis. And this include both the government and the opposition political elites. Health Emergency must be declared through out Pakistan.
