ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) through its Directorate of Legal Education (DLE) and the Higher Education Commission (HEC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Monday to streamline efforts to uplift the standard and quality of legal education in the country.
The signing ceremony was attended by the Federal Minister for Law & Justice Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar and Chairman HEC Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed.
Members of PBC including Syed Amjad Shah, Hassan Raza Pasha, Haroon Rashid, Director (DLE) Barrister Usama Malik and Director (Admn./Litigation) HEC Tariq Iqbal were also present at the occasion.
The MoU was signed by Prof. Dr. Anwar Gilani, Consultant (Quality Assurance) HEC and Barrister Usama Malik. It aims to enhance collaboration to revamp the syllabus and quality of LLB graduates in Pakistan along with promoting training of Law faculty members in the country. Under the MoU, both HEC and PBC have undertaken to strictly implement the quality assurance criteria in legal education institutions.
Speaking on the occasion, the Law Minister appreciated the signing of the MoU and said that this will significantly contribute towards improving the quality of legal education in the country.
