Staff Report

ISLAMABAD: An introductory meeting chaired by Member National Assembly Shaista Pervaiz at the National Assembly on Tuesday, finalised an action plan for the “Hum Hain Pakistan” SDG Youth Campaign, a nationwide initiative aimed at integrating Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) education and youth-led action into schools, colleges, and universities across federal capital through a structured “Learning + Action” framework.
The meeting was attended by Federal Parliamentary Secretary for Information and Broadcasting, Barrister Danyal Chaudhry and Minister of State for Federal Education and Professional Training, Wajiha Qamar, along with representatives of partner organisations associated with the campaign.

According to officials, the initiative sought to transform students from passive learners into active contributors towards sustainable development by promoting practical engagement with SDG-related activities and community-driven projects.
The campaign was being spearheaded by the SDG Parliamentary Task Force in collaboration with the International Governance and Sustainability Institute (IG-SI), United Peacekeepers Federal Council (UNPKFC), and the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training. Speaking during the session, Barrister Danyal Chaudhry reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening the link between policy making and grassroots implementation through greater youth participation and educational engagement.
Officials said the campaign was aligned with the government’s five year economic roadmap, “Uraan Pakistan”, and its 5E framework focusing on exports, E-Pakistan, environment, energy and infrastructure, and equity and empowerment, while also contributing towards Pakistan’s commitments under the United Nations Agenda 2030.
Ms Shaista Pervaiz said the programme would introduce student led SDG clubs, teacher training modules, and inter school action projects aimed at encouraging leadership, awareness, and community participation among young people.
Participants of the meeting expressed optimism that the initiative would help build a more informed and socially responsible youth population capable of contributing effectively to national development and sustainability goals.
