I play according to team’s requirements, says Babar

Harare: Pakistan’s all-format captain Babar Azam has hit back to his critics, who label him selfish despite performances.
The 26-year-old Babar while speaking to a group of reporters ahead of two Tests against Zimbabwe, emphasized that he bats according to team requirements.
“Everyone has their own opinion but I won’t call it selfish, I play according to the requirements of the team. Sometimes you have to play aggressively and sometimes you have to change your game according to the team’s capability,” Babar said.
“As a player, I have to bat along with others and play all overs. I don’t bother that much what people are saying,” he added.
Babar further added that they will finalize the playing XI for the first Test after viewing the pitch but hinted that there can be a change from the last Test they played against South Africa in Rawalpindi.
“We will look to play with winning combination [home series win vs South Africa] and after viewing the pitch, we will finalize,” he maintained.
Babar showed full confidence on the opening pair of Abid Ali and Imran Butt, who failed in South Africa Tests.
“Imran has played only two Tests while Abid has performed in the past and has experience. We will look to back as much we can,” he added.
It must be noted that Pakistan won the three-match T20I series by 2-1. The Test series starts tomorrow.
