ISLAMABAD: The main Chehlum procession in Islamabad sector G-6 concluded safely. On this occasion, IG Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi commended all officers for their security duties.
During the processions, the Islamabad Police, ensured foolproof security arrangements, deployed 3,000 officers for the procession. IG Islamabad visited the procession and personally inspected the security arrangements, while monitoring was also conducted from the Safe City Control Room.
On this occasion, DIG Islamabad Syed Ali Raza, SSP Operations, the Chief Traffic Officer Islamabad, and other senior police officers were also present.
Additionally, the Islamabad Police completely cordoned off the procession route, ensured proper lighting arrangements, and deployed police officers along the route. Security duty personnel stationed on rooftops were kept on high alert.
IGP Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi said that no police officer would leave their duty point until the procession concluded. He emphasized that providing foolproof security for the Chehlum procession of Hazrat Imam Hussain (A.S.) is a significant responsibility, and they were fully prepared to fulfill this duty.
More than 3,000 officers from Islamabad Police, Pakistan Rangers, and other law enforcement agencies performed security duties for the Chehlum procession. In addition to the Operations Division, personnel from the Special Branch, Logistic Division, CTD, Lady Police, and Traffic Police were also deployed.
Strict checking was conducted at all entry and exit points of the city during this time, and the procession was monitored through Safe City cameras.
Armed police personnel stationed on rooftops of houses and plazas performed their duties, while armored police vehicles were specially deployed to handle any unforeseen situations.
All routes and streets intersecting the procession route were blocked with barbed wire. Before the procession began, special checking of the route was conducted, and the route was cleared by the Bomb Disposal Squad.
Video recording of the procession was conducted using drone cameras. Local and non-local participants were allowed to join the procession only after thorough checking, and vehicles and motorcycles were strictly prohibited from entering.
Walk-through gates were installed at entry and exit points to ensure effective screening. Special attention was given to under-construction buildings along the route, with commandos stationed on rooftops, and all zonal SPs, SDPOs, and SHOs supervised the procession.
IGP Islamabad Syed Ali Raza further said that the Islamabad Police will continue to fulfill its professional duties with full responsibility and dedication while ensuring the safety of citizens’ lives and property.
