IGP for evolving CTD on modern lines

ISLAMABAD: Inspector-General Police Islamabad Qazi Jamil ur Rehman has underlined the need to evolve the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) on modern lines so as to counter terrorism and maintain peace in the society.

He expressed these views as he visited the CTD here on Wednesday. DIG (Operations), DIG (Headquarters), SSP CTD and other senior police officials were also present on the occasion. SSP CTD Dr. Khurram Rasheed briefed the IGP about different sections of the departments and their performance. Speaking on the occasion, IGP Qazi Jamil ur Rehman said that the CTD was a backbone to the police force. He said the CTD was fully capable to fight terrorism in the country. However, he said, there was a need to further strengthen it and evolve it on modern lines. He asked the high ups to arrange refresher courses for the personnel. He asked the CTD high ups to chalk out a plan pertaining to the possible refresher courses for the personnel so that their capacity building could be enhanced.
