IGP Islamabad chairs Operational Commanders Conference

ISLAMABAD: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, presided over a conference of Operational Commanders at the Central Police Office Islamabad. The conference was attended by DIG Headquarters Syed Ali Raza, DIG Islamabad Muhammad Jawad Tariq, SSPs, zonal SPs and SDPOs.


The conference began with a prayer (Fateha) for the martyred ASI Sudheer Abbasi and a special supplication for the recovery of injured Constable Jaffar Jahangir. Following the special directives of the Federal Interior Minister, a decision was made to convert all police stations in the federal capital into Special Initiative Police Stations within 30 days.
Renovation and refurbishment of all police stations will be completed by June 25. The IT infrastructure and human resources in these stations will also be further enhanced. Islamabad Police stations will be themed around national and social unity.
In this regard, IGP Islamabad has formed a special committee comprising DIG Islamabad, DIG Headquarters, AIG Logistics, SSP Operations and SSP Investigations. He emphasized that the aim of this significant step is to provide citizen-friendly policing.
IGP Islamabad also received briefings on Eid-ul-Adha security arrangements and district-wide crime updates. More than 1,000 police officers and security guards will be deployed at six cattle markets in Islamabad to ensure public safety. Police help desks have been established in all cattle markets to address issues like fraud, counterfeit currency and to assist the public.
Eid prayers will be held at 832 locations in Islamabad. Special security checkpoints and market point duties will be set up for this purpose. On the night of Eid, an additional 1,000 police officers will be on duty at 44 special points. Under a special patrolling plan, 982 police officers will be assigned patrol duties throughout the district.
During Eid holidays, 1,040 police officers will be deployed to ensure tight security and smooth traffic flow at public and recreational places. A special traffic plan has been developed and a dedicated patrolling plan has been devised for Margalla Hills to ensure citizens safety and provide immediate assistance in case of any emergency.
On this occasion, IGP Islamabad stated that Eid is a symbol of interfaith and inter-sectarian harmony and sacrifice. He issued instructions to all officers to activate special duties and neighborhood watch systems to prevent house burglaries during Eid holidays.
Police help desks will be established in all commercial centers to provide timely assistance to the public. Officers will visit various markets, take strict legal action against beggars and their facilitators and launch crackdowns against one-wheeling, aerial firing and illegal weapons.
The ongoing search and sweep operations against criminal elements across the district will be intensified. He further stated that cattle markets must be set up only at designated locations and legal action will be taken against illegally established markets.
