IGP reviews security arrangements for Muharram-ul-Haram

ISLAMABAD: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi presided over a high-level meeting at Police Lines Headquarters Islamabad regarding the security arrangements for Muharram-ul-Haram in the federal capital. The meeting was attended by all divisional DIGs, SSPs, SPs, SDPOs, and SHOs.
During the meeting, the IGP Islamabad reviewed the security measures for Muharram and issued instructions to all police officers to maintain a high alert during this period. He directed that additional police personnel be deployed to ensure foolproof security of the Imambargahs.


All officers must meet with the Imambargah organizers and personally inspect the procession routes. To ensure effective monitoring, Safe City Islamabad cameras and drones will be used. All available resources will be utilized for the surveillance of processions and Imambargahs.
A special control room will be set up in Safe City for efficient security management. Officers have been instructed to begin preparations immediately. Officers are also directed to hold special meetings with scout leaders and train them regarding security responsibilities. A coordinated security plan will be implemented across the city.
The IGP Islamabad further emphasized the need to clear bushes around the procession routes and conduct search operations in different areas. He made it clear that he will personally review all security arrangements. Security at all entry and exit points of the city must be kept on high alert.
He added that solid measures will be taken to ensure full protection for Majalis and processions during Muharram-ul-Haram. Efforts should be made to promote harmony during these sacred days to maintain peace and unity. He also stressed the importance of proper lighting arrangements during Majalis. All officers must brief their subordinates thoroughly regarding the nature of their duties.
IGP Islamabad further stated that to maintain peace and order during Muharram, all officers must perform their duties with honesty and patriotic spirit. Protecting the lives and property of citizens is the foremost responsibility of the police, and no negligence in this regard will be tolerated.
