IGP reviews security, police performance

ISLAMABAD: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, chaired an important online meeting at the Central Police Office Islamabad, during which the overall law and order situation in the federal capital, crime prevention efforts, enforcement of traffic laws and the quality of services provided to the public were comprehensively reviewed.
The meeting was attended by DIG Headquarters/Safe City Muhammad Haroon Joiya, DIG Islamabad Muhammad Jawad Tariq, AIG Logistics Abdul Haq Umrani, AIG Operations/Investigations Syed Inayat Ali Shah, all Zonal SPs and senior officers from Safe City Islamabad. The performance of the police, ongoing challenges and future strategies were discussed in detail during the session.
IGP Islamabad issued clear directives to all officers, emphasizing that maintaining peace and order in the federal capital must be ensured at all costs. He stressed the need to intensify indiscriminate legal actions and intelligence-based operations against criminal elements.
He also directed the effective implementation of modern checking systems at all city checkpoints to ensure the timely prevention of suspicious activities. Furthermore, IGP Islamabad directed officers to conduct surprise visits to service centers to monitor and improve the quality of services provided to citizens and to ensure the swift redressal of public complaints. The meeting also included a detailed review of the ongoing campaign by Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) to enforce traffic laws and prevent violations.
Addressing CTO Islamabad, IGP Islamabad emphasized the need for strict enforcement of traffic laws, particularly taking prompt and firm legal action against drivers involved in serious violations.
He further directed that essential services, including the issuance of driving licenses, must be provided promptly and efficiently to strengthen the bond of trust between the police and the public.
He also ordered that all police stations and offices be equipped with modern technology and that the “Special Initiatives Police Station” protocols be fully implemented to ensure the provision of timely, dignified, and modern services to the public. He instructed all officers to utilize scientific and technical tools to improve the quality of investigations and to resolve all pending cases on a priority basis.
Additionally, IGP Islamabad directed senior police officers to prioritize the welfare of personnel, ensure the timely resolution of their issues, and give special attention to their professional training. He instructed all senior officers to regularly hold orderly room sessions within their respective divisions and maintain active engagement with their subordinates.
He further emphasized that all officers must keep the morale of their teams high, work alongside them in the field, and operate as a cohesive and motivated unit. Concluding the meeting, IGP Islamabad stated that people-friendly policing, transparency, accountability, and the effective use of modern technology are the cornerstones of a safe, peaceful, and prosperous Islamabad.
He affirmed that the police force is taking all possible steps to protect the lives and property of citizens. He urged all officers to dedicate their full energy to restoring public trust and enhancing the performance of the police force, and to play their part in transforming the police into a model, modern, and service-oriented institution.
