ISLAMABAD: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi visited Imambargah Asna Ashari. Senior officers of the Islamabad Police were also present on the occasion.
IGP Islamabad reviewed the security arrangements, assessed the main procession route, and met with the administration of the Imambargah. He stated that foolproof security arrangements will be ensured for the main procession. A total of 181 processions and 965 Majalis (religious gatherings) will be held across the district. For this purpose, over 16,000 officers and officials have been deployed to ensure the security of processions and Majalis in Islamabad.
Additionally, 10 field vigilance teams, under the supervision of senior officers, have been assigned to inspect the security arrangements. He further stated that 284 checkpoints have been set up in procession and Majalis areas, and special patrolling units will be deployed throughout the district.
Moreover, 17 search operations have been conducted across the district, and this process will continue until the 40th day of mourning (Chehlum).
IGP Islamabad added that every officer and officials of the Islamabad Police will remain present in the field throughout the days of Muharram. Processions and Majalis are being monitored through the Safe City Control Room.
For optimal security and surveillance, monitoring is being conducted using 3,000 Safe City cameras, drones, and smart patrol cars. All departments are in full coordination to respond to any emergency.
Citizens are requested to cooperate with the police and report any emergencies by calling “Pukaar-15”.
