ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court will on September 16 hear a contempt of court plea filed by the sister of jailed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan over his hospital transfer.
The contempt of court plea has been scheduled for hearing before a three-member bench comprising Justice Shahid Waheed, Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan and Justice Shakil Ahmed.
The Supreme Court has issued the roster for the judicial week starting September 14.
Earlier today, the top court’s registrar’s office returned Dr Uzma Khan’s plea after raising objections, with sources saying it did not include a list of allegations against the respondents.
Subsequently, the PTI refiled the contempt of court petition after addressing the objection raised by the registrar and was allotted a case number (8/2026). Dr Uzma also filed a petition with the top court for an early hearing of her contempt of court plea, citing the deteriorating health of the PTI founder. The SC registrar’s office then accepted the plea.
In her plea, she said that the request for an early hearing was connected to the former premier’s health and life.
Dr Uzma argued that the federal government defied the Supreme Court’s order and deviated from the judicial ruling on her brother’s transfer to Shifa Hospital.
She said that authorities could have approached the relevant court if they required any clarification regarding the order.
Dr Uzma maintained that deviation from the Supreme Court’s decision was not permissible, requesting that the contempt of court petition be fixed for hearing during the ongoing week.
Dr Uzma had filed the petition at the Supreme Court against the alleged violation of the court’s order regarding the jailed PTI founder’s transfer to Shifa International Hospital.
In the petition filed on August 22, the PTI founder’s sister sought initiation of contempt proceedings against those allegedly responsible, along with show-cause notices and directions for their personal appearance before the court.
