London: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has started aiming to reschedule the remaining Indian Premier League (IPL) by moving a Test against England at a later date.
According to the reports, BCCI held initial talks with England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) to move the last Test of the five-matches series for some time later. England and India are scheduled to play the five-matches Test series from August 4 to 14 September.
“BCCI and the ECB are in discussions to tweak the five-Test series. Details of those discussions aren’t public yet. But in whichever manner the ECB agrees to tweak the Test series, they will want the IPL in England because the counties can earn from it. There’ll be a good chance of a quid pro quo,” Indian media reported.
“Only if costs are escalating to a point where it starts affecting stakeholders, the BCCI will consider the UAE as the second option for the IPL.
On that front, we aren’t even discounting the idea of hosting the IPL in Sri Lanka,” the publication added. It must be noted here that the Indian team will leave for England in early June as they are scheduled to face New Zealand in ICC Test Championship’s final on June 18 at Southampton.
