Indian actress accuses director, actor of rape attempt

Even as the Malayalam actress assault case continues to grab headlines, a new molestation case of a Telugu actress has come in the limelight.

The Times of India reported that the actress has filed a police complaint against director Chalapathi and actor Srujan, accusing both of attempting to rape her in a car.

She has alleged that although she was supposed to reach Bheemavaram on August 13 by taking a train, the duo insisted that they travel by road. Revealing more details, The Times of India story says they began touching her inappropriately and assaulting her. The duo threw her in the backseat and began driving fast to prevent her from escaping, she said in her allegations.

The car finally collided with a lorry and the actress managed to escape. The director and the actor pleaded with her not to complain and later resorted to threats.

“They said what they did was wrong, and apologised. Then, they said that if I talk about this, it is my career that will be spoiled. They blackmailed me, and said that if I go to the police station and the media, I will not get another film in my career,” she was quoted by India Today.

After she filed the complaint, police took Chalapathi into custody, while Srujan is reportedly absconding.
