ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan Wednesday said that Indian media was trying to divert world’s attention from the Indian government’s illegal steps in the Illegally Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), grave human rights violations and threats to the regional peace from the implementation of Hindu fascist agenda through a negative and baseless propaganda against Pakistan.
The prime minister was chairing a meeting to review the negative propaganda and disinformation campaign including hybrid warfare launched by the Indian media against Pakistan, PM office media wing in a press release said.
During the meeting the prime minister further observed that the objective of such nefarious propaganda was to create anarchy in the country.
The meeting was attended by Minister for Foreign Affairs Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Minister for Information and Broadcasting senator Shibli Faraz, Minister for Interior Shaikh Rashid Ahmed, Minister for Communication Murad Saeed, PM’s special assistant Dr Moeed Yousaf, Focal Person on Digital Media Dr Arsalan Khalid and others.
The prime minister directed for effective measures to foil the negative Indian media’s propaganda and creation of public awareness in this regard. The prime minister stressed that such baseless and concocted campaign should be countered with facts and the real face of India should be exposed before the international community and the public.He also expressed the hope that Pakistani media would play its full role in this regard.
Moreover, Prime Minister Imran Khan has ordered action against foreign-funded non-governmental organizations (NGOs) defaming Pakistan within the next 48-hours. The prime minister headed a meeting today to receive an in-depth briefing on the activities of the NGOs that are receiving foreign funds and are involved in defaming the country in the guise of Islamophobia, terrorism and human rights.
It was briefed during the meeting that certain NGOs were also involved in propaganda against the state institutions on the behest of anti-Pakistan elements.
“Some of the NGOs have also launched a propaganda campaign against the country in the guise of minority and women rights,” the briefing said as the prime minister was showed evidence of propaganda being launched from such NGOs and organizations. Over a recommendation from the meeting for action against such organisations, the sources said that the prime minister ordered immediate action against them within the next 48 hours. “The registration of all such NGOs and organizations should be cancelled,” the prime minister said adding that they have to cleanse the country of anti-state elements.
Imran Khan said that all such NGOs would be exposed before the masses. “Before countering the external threat, we have to first deal with the issues faced by the nation from within,” he said. It is pertinent to mention here that a cabinet meeting headed by the prime minister a day before decided to take decisive action against NGOs promoting foreign agenda. Prime Minister Imran Khan was quoted as saying during the meeting that he had also received reports against the NGOs being run on foreign funding.
The federal ministers said that it was time for decisive action and stern measures should be adopted against such organizations.
Earlier, Prime Minister Imran Khan has summoned an important meeting on Wednesday (tomorrow) to take action against unregistered non-governmental organizations (NGOs) promoting foreign agenda. According to sources, the decision was taken during the cabinet meeting today, where it was agreed to take decisive action against NGOs promoting foreign agenda.
Prime Minister Imran Khan was quoted as saying during the meeting that he had also received reports against the NGOs being run on foreign funding.
The federal ministers said that it was time for decisive action and stern measures should be adopted against such organizations.
According to sources, the cabinet was informed that there were several NGOs working in Pakistan that are operating without registration and are receiving foreign funding. “Such NGOs are promoting their agenda,” they said.
The prime minister decided to summon a meeting to review the matter on Wednesday, which would be attended by ministers from economic affairs, foreign affairs, information and broadcasting, national security adviser, and others.
Imran Khan has also summoned detailed information on the NGOs including their source of income and registration. The sources said that recently interior ministry has received a complaint against a non-governmental organization.
