Influenza vaccination starts in Kyrgyzstan

BISHKEK: Influenza vaccination has started in Kyrgyzstan from September 16. Head of the Public Health Department of the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic Ainura Akmatova said at a briefing that the vaccination has started in Bishkek and Chui Oblast and further will cover all the regions of the country.
The Ministry of Health has already purchased the first batch of influenza vaccine in the amount of 19 thousand 663 doses. “Currently, vaccines are distributed across all regions of the country. The second batch of vaccines will arrive in the country after Sept. 21, the third batch – after Oct. 27,”Akmatova said.
She noted that, according to the WHO recommendation, the vaccine is primarily intended for people with chronic diseases, often sick children, people with weakened immunity, pregnant women, people over 65, children from orphanages and boarding schools, people in nursing homes as well as medical professionals.
“Coverage of preventive vaccination will be 13% of the population of the republic. Therefore, there will be those who want to get vaccinated themselves, in this regard, private medical centers will be involved in the vaccination on a paid basis,” she added.
