ISLAMABAD: Capital Cops busted 14 outlaws including three members of Inter- provincial gang of drug peddlers and recovered huge quantity of narcotic and weapons from their possession, a police spokesman said on Friday. According to details, SSP Operations Dr, Syed Mustafa Tanveer has directed all zonal officers to accelerate their efforts to curb crime in the city. Following these directions SP (City-Zone)Omer Khan constituted special police team under the supervision of DSP Raja Tahir Hussain including SHO Secretariat police station Sub-Inspector Khuram Shahzad along with other officials arrested three members of interprovincial gang of drug peddlers namely Ashen Haider S/O Abid Hussain R/O Kuram Agency Para Chanar, Nasir Hussain S/O Sabir Hussain R/O Parachinar and Kashan Saleem S/O Muhammad Saleem R/O Maira Bairi Golra Islamabad and recovered 3.410 gram hashish from their possession. Cases have been registered against the nabbed accused and further investigation is underway from them.
Further-More Industrial-Area police arrested accused Muhammad Asif s/o Abdul Naseer resident of Afghanistan involved in snatching incident on Kashmir high way and IJP road, further investigation is underway from him. Moreover Shahzad Town police arrested 03 accused Muhammad Hamza, Mumtaiz and Faizan Ali and recovered 130 gram hashish, 110 gram heroine and one 30 bore pistol along with ammunition from their possession. Noon police arrested Waseem Khan and recovered one 30 bore pistol from him. Nilor police arrested accused Muhammad Pervez and recovered one 30 bore pistol along with ammunition from him. Khanna police arrested accused Adnan Sohail and recovered 850 gram hashish from him. Secretariat police arrested four accused Hassan Haider, Nasir Hussain, Kashan Saleem and Haseeb and recovered 3.410 kilogram hashish and one iron punch from their possession. Tarnol police arrested two accused Noor Din and Shaheen Khan and recovered one 30 bore pistol and 550 gram heroine from their possession.
Industrial Area police arrested two accused Jagga and Muhammad Ali and recovered 1100 gram hashish and one pistol from their possession.
Cases have been registered against the nabbed persons and further investigation is underway from them. SSP Operations has directed all police officials to ensure effective security in the city and enhanced checking around worship places. He asked to improve patrolling plans and maintain high vigilance against anti-social elements.
36 beggars along 14 handlers caught
ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Police have launched special crackdown against professional alm seekers and their handlers with the purpose to curb this menace and nabbed 36 beggars and 14 handlers on Friday. Following directions of IGP Islamabad Qazi Jamil ur Rehman and DIG (Operations) Afzaal Ahmed Kausar, Additional SP Farhat Abbass Kazmi said that special teams have been constituted to ensure arrest of beggars’ handlers while legal process is being ensured to register FIRs against the professional alm-seekers.
According to details, Industrial area police got the tips through sources about presence of network of beggars’ handlers in the area. Following this information, Industrial area police launched crackdown and succeeded to nab 36 beggars and 14 handlers. The nabbed persons had divided sectors, signals and main chowks for begging activities. They also used to send children at various signals and chowks of the city. The handlers used to get share form them and support them in case of any issue with them.
Police have registered cases against all the accused under Act relating to human smuggling and sections for involving children in begging activities. Additional SP Farhat Abbass Kazmi said that high-ups of Islamabad police are determined to curb this social evil and ensure strict action against those backing the professional beggars .He said this campaign would remain continue and strict action to be taken against beggars found around commercial centers, signals and other business areas. He said this campaign against the professional alm-seekers will be made more effective and strict action to be taken against those who force children and women to adopt the ugly business. SSP (Operations) Dr. Syed Mustafa Tanverer has also appealed the citizens to cooperate with police in curbing this menace and discourage professional alm-seekers. Meanwhile, Islamabad police also arrested a drug pusher identified as Jaga son of Botte resident of Lahore and recovered 1100 gram hashish from him.
