ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi paid a surprise visit to the imambargahs in Islamabad. Chief Commissioner Muhammad Ali Randhawa, IGP Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, and other senior police officers were also present on this occasion. During the visit, the Federal Interior Minister reviewed the security arrangements for majalis and processions and met with the police officers on duty. He issued directives to the police officers and administrators, emphasizing that strict security arrangements must be ensured for majalis and processions during Muharram.
He stressed the need for strong coordination among all departments to ensure the safety of participants in majalis and processions, and to provide necessary facilities. Citizens should also be guided and provided with necessary diversions for their convenience. Furthermore, he emphasized that all departments should play their role in maintaining peace and order during Muharram.
Additionally, Islamabad Police had devised a security plan to ensure foolproof security arrangements during Muharram in the federal capital. Comprehensive security measures have been taken by Islamabad Police to safeguard congregations and processions at imambargahs during Muharram. Meetings have also been conducted with scholars from all schools of thought, members of peace committees, and intellectuals to promote harmony during these sacred days of Muharram and to establish an atmosphere of peace and harmony.
Meanwhile, more than 16,000 officers from Islamabad Police, Pakistan Rangers, Special Branch, Logistics Division, CTD, Lady Police, and Traffic Police have been deployed to ensure foolproof security for 181 processions and 965 Majalis from the first of Muharram ul Haram to the second of Rabi Ul Awal across the city.
