Iran warns ships in Hormuz to follow approved routes

Iran’s joint military command has warned ships moving through the Strait of Hormuz to use its approved routes or face a “forceful response”, Al Jazeera reported, citing Iranian state broadcaster.

“Any failure to comply, deviation from the designated route, or disregard for the navigation protocols of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Strait of Hormuz will be met with an immediate and forceful response from the armed forces,” a statement carried by the television channel said.

The warning from the Khatam al-Anbiya military command came after a ship ran aground in the Strait of Hormuz on Wednesday while using a route not approved by Iran, the report said. –Agencies
