Iranian Foreign Minister to hold talks with Shah Mehmood Qureshi in Islamabad today

ISLAMABAD: Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif will hold talks with his Pakistani counterpart Shah Mehmood Qureshi in Islamabad today.

Zarif who arrived in Islamabad on a two-day visit is expected to meet Prime Minister Imran Khan and top brass of civil-military leadership of the country.

The two sides will discuss bilateral relations, border security issues and the recent tension in Iran-US tension during Zarif’s visit to the country.

This is Zarif’s third visit to the country since assuming office. 

During his weekly press briefing, Foreign Office Spokesperson Dr Muhammad Faisal said, Pakistan is concerned over the grave situation prevailing in the Persian Gulf. 

“We believe the situation in the region is serious and needs to be addressed through dialogue by all parties. We expect all sides to show restraint, as any miscalculated move, can transmute into a large-scale conflict,” Dr Faisal said, adding, the foreign minister will have a detailed discussion regarding the situation.
