Ishaq Dar, Wang Yi review bilateral ties; exchange views on regional developments

BEIJING: Deputy Prime Minister /Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar and Member of the Political Bureau and Minister of Foreign Affairs of China Wang Yi, Tuesday, reviewed the full spectrum of bilateral relations, exchanged views on regional developments in West Asia, and discussed a wide range of issues of mutual interest. The DPM/FM met with the Chinese foreign minister in Beijing upon the invitation of the latter.
On the evolving situation in West Asia, both sides underscored their shared commitment to peace, stability, and dialogue, and issued a five-point Initiative aimed at promoting regional peace and stability, the Foreign Office Spokesperson said in a press statement. Foreign Minister Wang Yi appreciated Pakistan’s constructive and consistent diplomatic efforts in this regard. The meeting was held in an exceptionally warm and cordial atmosphere, featuring hours of engagement from restricted talks to delegation-level discussions.
“As Pakistan and China commemorate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations this year, both sides reaffirmed their unwavering commitment to further strengthening the All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership. Particular emphasis was placed on advancing high-quality development, deepening economic and strategic cooperation, including under CPEC 2.0, and enhancing high-level exchanges and collaboration across all domains,” it was added. The two sides also reaffirmed their close coordination at multilateral fora and agreed to remain in regular and close contact.
The visit once again reflected the enduring warmth, mutual trust, and iron-clad friendship that defined Pakistan-China relations.
Earlier, The foreign ministers of China and Pakistan will strengthen strategic communication and coordination on international and regional issues including situation in Iran and make new efforts to promote peace and stop war, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mao Ning said on Tuesday.
“China and Pakistan are all-weather strategic cooperative partners with mutual trust and support. The two countries have similar positions and close communication on major international and regional issues,” she said during her regular briefing in response to a question regarding visit of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar to China.
“It is believed that the two foreign ministers will strengthen strategic communication and coordination on international and regional issues of mutual interest such as the situation in Iran, jointly raise the voice of peace and justice, and make new efforts to promote peace and stop the war and safeguard regional peace and stability,” she added.  DPM and FM Ishaq Dar is currently visiting Beijing on the invitation of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi. –Agencies
