Islamabad: Meet And Greet event was organized at Serena Hotel today in order to give a welcome to the Slovenian Players to Pakistan and also to encourage Pakistani players to give their best performances. Federal Minister for inter provincial coordination, Dr Fehmida Mirza, DG PSB, Imran Amna and president PTF Salim Saifullah officially met the Slovenian and Pakistani players of Davis Cup Tie.
After greeting the players, draw was conducted under the presence of the Referee, Federal minister, DG PSB and president PTF. Dr Fehmida Mirza in her speech welcomed the Slovenian team players to Pakistan. Moreover, she highlighted that Pakistanis are known for their hospitality in the world, therefore, the Slovenian players will feel themselves at home and will be taken care of very well.
Besides this, while highlighting the efforts of the army in their fight against terrorism she expressed that Pakistan is a very safe country for all the foreign tourist and players. The world has now acknowledged this fact that’s why more and more foreign teams and players are coming to Pakistan, she emphasized. Adding on to this, Fehmida Mirza invited the players to visit the beautiful places and tourist sites in Pakistan after they will get free from the Tie.
While concluding her speech, Minister wished all the players good luck for the Davis Cup Tie.
Salim Saifullah in his speech thanked the Minister for being part of the event and providing them with all support to make the event successful. Referee stated that as the weather is unpredictable so the tie is most likely to happen on 6th and 7th of March, but in case if the weather would not be suitable for the matches to take place then it could be postponed till 9th of March.
Davis Cup began in 1900 as a competition between USA and Great Britain. It’s now the world’s largest annual international team competition in sport, with 133 nations entering in 2019.Davis Cup Tie is being played between Pakistan and Slovenia at Pakistan Sports Complex, Islamabad from 6-7 March 2020.
