ISLAMABAD: A high-level delegation from the Istanbul Bar Association No. 2, Republic of Türkiye, accompanied by representatives of the Pakistan Bar Council (PBC), visited the Federal Constitutional Court of Pakistan (FCCP) and called on the Chief Justice during an official visit to the Court in Islamabad.
The visit reflected the longstanding brotherly relations between Pakistan and Türkiye and reaffirmed the shared commitment of the legal communities of both countries to constitutionalism, judicial independence, the rule of law, and the promotion of international legal cooperation.
The Turkish delegation was led by Mr. Yasin SAMLI, President of the Istanbul Bar Association No. 2. The delegation was accompanied by Dr. Irfan Neziroglu, Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to Pakistan, whose presence underscored the importance of the visit and the deep-rooted bilateral ties between the two countries. Members of the delegation included Mr. Niyazi PAKSOY, Vice President; Ms. Nurcan YANARDAG, General Secretary; Mr. Erol KIRAÇ, Treasurer; Board Members Mr. Menderes DEMIR, Ms. Fatma KOÇ, Mr. Melik Islam SEKER; and Mr. Mehmet Öztürk, International Relations and Translator.
The delegation was accompanied by distinguished representatives of the Pakistan Bar Council, including Pir Masood Chishti, Vice Chairman; Saqib Gondal, Rizwan Abbasi, Amir Saeed Rawn, Barrister Usama Malik, Director/Head, Directorate of Legal Education, Pakistan Bar Council, and Sajid Sohail, Focal Person, Embassy of Türkiye.
Upon arrival at the Federal Constitutional Court of Pakistan, the distinguished guests were warmly received by the Court’s senior protocol officials and were subsequently welcomed by Registrar Muhammad Hafeez Ullah Khan, who conveyed greetings on behalf of the Court before escorting the delegation for its meeting with the Chief Justice.
During the meeting, the Chief Justice highlighted the constitutional mandate of the Federal Constitutional Court of Pakistan, emphasizing its pivotal role in upholding the supremacy of the Constitution, safeguarding fundamental rights, ensuring constitutional interpretation, and strengthening constitutional governance.
The visiting delegation was also presented with an institutional documentary introducing the Federal Constitutional Court of Pakistan, highlighting its establishment, constitutional jurisdiction, institutional development, and vision.
The meeting provided a valuable opportunity for a comprehensive exchange of views on matters of mutual professional interest, including constitutional adjudication, comparative constitutional jurisprudence, judicial reforms, legal education, bar–bench relations, and avenues for enhanced institutional collaboration between the legal communities of Pakistan and Türkiye.
The members of the delegation expressed their appreciation for the warm hospitality extended by the Federal Constitutional Court of Pakistan. Both sides reaffirmed their shared resolve to deepen professional engagement, facilitate knowledge exchange, and promote sustained cooperation between the constitutional and legal institutions of the two brotherly countries.
To commemorate the visit, the Chief Justice and members of the delegation participated in a souvenir exchange ceremony, symbolizing the enduring friendship, mutual respect, and strong legal partnership between Pakistan and Türkiye. The visit concluded with a group photograph before the delegation departed from the Court.
