ISLAMABAD: Following the directions of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, the Islamabad Traffic Police has taken another important step for the convenience of citizens by launching Phase Two of its Driving License Campaign.
In this regard, Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Islamabad Captain (Retd.) Hamza Humayun, stated that under this campaign, citizens can now obtain learner permits from facilitation vans stationed at various checkpoints.
These facilitation vans of the Islamabad Traffic Police will be available at four checkpoints, namely Zero Point, Faizabad, G-14, and the Foreign Office. Citizens who do not already possess a driving license can obtain a learner permit from these vans.
He further added that traffic police officers are checking driving licenses at the entry and exit points of the federal capital. Citizens who do not have a driving license or learner permit will be issued a learner permit on the spot.
The Islamabad Traffic Police has introduced a new facility that allows individuals driving motorcycles or vehicles without a valid license to obtain one directly on the road — saving them from having to visit offices or stand in long queues.
CTO Islamabad further stated that, due to the Driving License Campaign, the percentage of licensed drivers in the federal capital has increased from 56% to over 80%, which is a positive development for traffic discipline and public safety.
The Islamabad Traffic Police is making responsible driving easier across the city. With citizens’ cooperation, the goal of having 90% of drivers licenses will soon be achieved. Citizens can also obtain information about the facilitation vans through FM 92.4, social media platforms, or the Traffic Police Helpline 1915.
