| Ambassador WADA terms Pakistan as Japan’s Derena Dost, amazing nation

ISLAMABAD: To celebrate the 62nd Birthday of His Majesty the Emperor Naruhito, the Ambassador of Japan to Pakitn, H.E. Mr. WADA Mitsuhiro and his wife hosted a reception here on Tuesday evening
Since it was a Japanese reception, it was bound to have a large number of guests so it did. People from all walks of life, including Islamabad-based foreign diplomats, senior politicians, businessmen, journalists and social elites of the capital thronged the event while Syed Fakhar Imam, Federal Minister for National Food Security & Research was the chief guest at the event.
Fakhar Imam threw light on the history of the ties between Pakistan and Japan and termed these relations as highly fruitful and effective for all dimensions including Diplomacy, Trade and culture and said Pakistan always took pride in its great relations with Japan. He also hailed Japan for achieving utmost success in all directions and specially in advanced technology.
At this occasion, Ambassador WADA, together with the distinguished guests cut a cake to mark the His Majesty the Emperor’s Birthday, which actually falls on February 23rd but was celebrated in Islamabad yesterday due to earlier COVID restrictions. The guests were entertained with delighted Japanese cousins and Pakistani dishes. Since his accession to the throne on 1st May 2019 as the 126th Emperor of Japan, His Majesty the Emperor Naruhito stands as the symbol of Japan and the unity of the people.
His Majesty and the Imperial Family also facilitate the good relations with foreign countries including Pakistan. As this year marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Pakistan, the Ambassador said that our relationship will be strengthened together with all the Pakistani friends including “Derena Dost / Long-time Friends”. The Embassy underscores sincere efforts from both sides in order to further strengthen this friendship.
In the wake of COVID-19 pandemic, the Embassy could not host the reception for the last year which is usually an annual feature to mark the birthday of His Majesty the Emperor.
