Bishkek: President Sooronbay Jeenbekov received World Bank Country Manager for the Kyrgyz Republic Bolormaa Amgaabazar on the occasion of completion her mission in the country, his press service reported.
Jeenbekov expressed gratitude to Bolormaa Amgaabazar for active and fruitful work as the World Bank’s Country Manager for the Kyrgyz Republic, noted her personal merits in strengthening the socio-economic potential of Kyrgyzstan, especially during the crisis period associated with the spread of coronavirus infection in the country. “You have made a tangible contribution to the development and expansion of cooperation between the World Bank and the Kyrgyz Republic. Separately, I would like to thank you for your support of Kyrgyzstan’s strategic initiatives, related to regional development, digitalization of the country, implementation of infrastructure projects and support for children,” the President noted. He also highly appreciated the role of the World Bank in reducing poverty and solving acute social problems in Kyrgyzstan. Considering merits of Bolormaa Amgaabazar as the World Bank’s Country Manager of the Kyrgyz Republic, Sooronbay Jeenbekov presented her with a state award – a Certificate of Honor of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The WB representative expressed her gratitude for support and cooperation, noting that throughout her mission in Kyrgyzstan, she was fruitfully cooperating with the leadership of the country, receiving support in implementing joint projects.
“During my work in Kyrgyzstan, we have jointly completed about 20 projects. I felt comfortable working here, Kyrgyzstan is largely similar to my homeland – Mongolia. I will definitely return to Kyrgyzstan,” Bolormaa Amgaabazar said. She also requested assistance in the ratification of three new projects that would benefit Kyrgyzstan.
In conclusion, President Jeenbekov congratulated Bolormaa Amgaabazar on her appointment to a new position in the World Bank office in Indonesia, and expressed hope for further fruitful cooperation. Bolormaa Amgaabazar headed the World Bank Country Office for the Kyrgyz Republic from August 2017 to August 2020.
Under her leadership, the Partnership Framework for the Kyrgyz Republic for 2019-2022 was prepared, 13 investment projects worth a total of USD 442.2 million were prepared and approved by the Board of Executive Directors, of which USD 21.2 million were provided as emergency assistance to counteract the COVID-19 pandemic.
