NANCHANG: Two long-billed plovers were first spotted by scholars in a state-level nature reserve in eastern China’s Jiangxi Province.
The bird species was first found in the Jiulingshan Nature Reserve, bringing the total number of bird species in the reserve to 208, according to the researchers with the reserve.
The long-billed plover, with black spots on the front of its head, is a winter migratory bird that usually migrates along river channels and its living environment is mostly related to wetlands.
A large number of wildlife species with national-level protection have been spotted since the Jiulingshan Nature Reserve was founded, including Elliot’s pheasants and white-eared night herons, as the reserve attaches great importance to its ecological system and the habitats of wildlife. – Agencies
