Jilin province reports zero COVID-19 infection cases

CHANGCHUN: The northeast China province of Jilin on Monday became the latest in a crop of Chinese provincial-level regions that have reduced the number of COVID-19 patients to zero.
The Jilin Provincial Health Commission on Monday said no new infections of the novel coronavirus were reported in the province, after the last confirmed patient recovered on Sunday.
The commission said the patient has been allowed to be transferred for treatment of the cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases after an expert panel approved the discharge from the isolation ward.
In addition to clearing confirmed cases to zero, Jilin has cleared all suspected cases and ended quarantine for all close contacts with the confirmed cases.
Since the first imported infection case was reported on Jan 19, a total of 93 COVID-19 cases were confirmed in Jilin. One of the patients died and the 92 others have been cured with a combination of traditional Chinese medicine and Western medicine.
In addition to Jilin, 11 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland are clear of the novel coronavirus infections after their last COVID-19 patients had been discharged as of Monday.
They include Tibet, Qinghai, Xinjiang, Shanxi, Fujian, Jiangsu, Jiangxi, Anhui, Hunan, Chongqing and Tianjin.
