LAHORE: Ameer Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (Punjab) and renowned religious scholar Maulana Syed Mahmood Mian has passed away, leaving behind a legacy deeply rooted in Islamic scholarship and religious service.
The funeral prayer will be held on Thursday, July 3, at 10:00 am at Jamia Madaniya Jadid on Raiwind Road, Lahore, where Maulana Mahmood Mian served as the chief.
Maulana Mahmood Mian came from a distinguished lineage of Islamic scholars.
His father, Maulana Syed Hamid Mian, was the central chief of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, while his grandfather, Maulana Syed Muhammad Mian, served as the central Nazim of Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind.
His grandfather was also the teacher of Maulana Mufti Mahmood at the historic Madrasa Shahi in Moradabad, India.
His passing is being mourned across religious and political circles, with tributes pouring in for his decades of service to Islamic education and the religious-political landscape of Pakistan.
