ISLAMABAD: Interim Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar said on Monday that the final and just solution of the Kashmir issue is only possible under a UN-brokered plebiscite and as per United Nations Security Council resolutions. In a meeting with Azad Kashmir Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwaarul Haq and Speaker of AJK Legislative Assembly Chaudhry Latif Akbar after reaching Muzaffarabad on the occasion of Kashmir Solidarity Day, the premier said the entire nation stands shoulder to shoulder with its Kashmiri brethren.
Kakar added that New Delhi’s atrocities in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) are no longer a secret and the international community’s silence is alarming and condemnable.
AJK PM Anwaar also pledged that Pakistan will continue extending its moral, political and diplomatic support to the Kashmiri brothers and sisters until they achieve their due right to self-determination. Both AJK leaders also welcomed the visit of the caretaker prime minister to Muzaffarabad. They stated that Kakar’s arrival in Muzaffarabad on the occasion of Kashmir Solidarity Day sent a clear message that the hearts of brothers and sisters of Pakistan and Kashmir beat together.
Earlier, the Chairmen of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCsSC), and services chiefs paid heartfelt homage to the unwavering resolve and courageous struggle of the people of Kashmir.
They have stood resolute in the face of grave human rights violations and enduring inhumane lock-downs imposed by Indian occupation forces in IIOJK, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement.
The Kashmir conflict, lingering on the UN agenda since 1948, remains unresolved.
“The issue has to be resolved as per the aspirations of the people of Kashmir and in accordance with UN Resolutions providing for their right to self-determination.”
The armed forces expressed solidarity with the people of Kashmir, acknowledging the immense sacri-fices they endured in their quest for liberation.
