Kayani reaffirms govt’s commitment to cashless economy

ISLAMABAD: Minister of State for Railways and Finance, Bilal Azhar Kayani on Monday reaffirmed the government’s commitment to advancing a cashless economy and accelerating digital financial inclusion across the country.
He expressed these views during a meeting with a delegation of JS Bank that called on him to discuss key strategies for expanding digital financial services and supporting the national vision for a digitally empowered economy, according to a press release issued by the Ministry of Finance.
The delegation was led by Basir Shamsie, President and Chief Executive Officer JS Bank, and included Noman Azhar, Chief Officer of ZINDIGI – JS Bank, and Atif Ishaque, Chief Business Officer of ZINDIGI – JS Bank. During the meeting, the delegation commended the government’s ongoing policy efforts and initiatives aimed at promoting cashless business models and driving formal financial adoption across sectors.
Emphasizing the strategic importance of public-private partnership, the Minister highlighted that Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif was personally overseeing the cashless economy process and had achieved significant progress over the year.
He said the government was committed to ensuring transparency, enhancing public convenience, and accelerating the formal documentation of the economy through digital payments.
Both sides expressed their commitment to continued collaboration in advancing digital financial services, strengthening digital infrastructure and supporting wider adoption of cashless solutions across the country.
