-Agree on efforts to boost Trade relations

NUR-SULTAN: Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Recep Tayyip Erdogan exchanged New Year’s greetings on the first day of 2021.
The President of Kazakhstan noted that despite the coronavirus pandemic, cooperation between our countries is developing successfully, the volume of mutual trade amounted to $ 2.6 billion.
He suggested continuing efforts to increase trade and boost investment cooperation. The Turkish President agreed with this approach, stressing that as a result of joint efforts, the volume of trade can be tripled.
The head of state noted that in recent years, Turkey’s influence in the international arena has increased, as evidenced by the settlement of the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh.
Recep Tayyip Erdogan expressed gratitude for such an assessment of Turkey’s participation in resolving this long-term conflict. He also praised the interaction of the two countries in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic, noting that the Kazakh leadership, as a result of decisive actions, managed to bring the epidemiological situation in the country under control.
The Turkish President wished successful parliamentary elections on January 10 this year and said that Turkish representatives would be watching them.
At the end of the conversation, both leaders agreed to work out the possibility of organizing the visit of the President of Turkey to Kazakhstan this year.
Earlier on December 29, Kyrgyz Ambassador to Turkey Kubanychbek Omuraliev met with Turkish Deputy Foreign Minister Sedat Onal.
Omuraliev informed Sedat Onal about the internal political situation in Kyrgyzstan and the upcoming presidential elections in the Kyrgyz Republic and the referendum.
The sides noted the need to conduct official visits at the highest and high levels in 2021, the 5th meeting of the Supreme Council for Strategic Cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Turkey, as well as the 10th meeting of the Kyrgyz-Turkish Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation and the Kyrgyz-Turkish Business Forum in Kyrgyzstan, previously postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
