ISLAMABAD: Former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister Pervez Khattak on Monday called on Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-F (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman.
The meeting was held at the residence of Fazl in Islamabad. Both the politicians discussed the overall situation of the country. The meeting was also attended by Liaqat Khattak, Maulana Asad Mehmood and Muhammad Aslam Ghauri.
Earlier, it was reported that former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister Pervez Khattak has decided to join politics again.
According to family sources, the seasoned politician is in contact with the PPP and other parties. He also held several meetings with key political leaders during the last few days. Speaking to media, the veteran politician said he would take a decision after analysing the political situation. “I am silently observing the performance of the government nowadays,” he said.
“I am away from mainstream and social media these days but can take decision to enter politics again soon,” he added.
Khattak had stepped down as chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Parliamentarian (PTIP) days after his party showed dismal performance in the general elections 2024.
Pervez Khattak had suffered defeat in NA-33 Nowshera constituency, which was earlier considered his stronghold.
The PTI-backed independent candidate, Shahid Ahad Khattak, defeated him by securing 90,145 votes. Pervez Khattak had bagged only 25,258 votes in the polls. –Agencies
