ISLAMABAD: A joint team of Criminal Investigation Agency (CIA) and PS Shalimar, busted the ringleader of an Afghan criminal’s gang and recovered snatched cash worth rupees five million, two cars, DVR and weapons from him. According to details, IGP Islamabad Muhammad Aamir Zulfiqar Khan ordered crackdown against criminals including those involved in street crimes. Following these orders, DIG Operations directed all zonal officers to accelerate their efforts in curbing crime in the city. Thus, SP Saddar Zone Muhammad Sarfraz Virk and SP Investigation Malik Naeem Iqbal constituted a special team under the supervision of DSP CIA Hakim Khan, DSP Zulfiqar Ahmed including SI Zafar Iqbal, ASIs Safdar, Fayyaz Ahmed, Mohsin Ali and others. The team nabbed wanted member of dacoits’ gang, involved in snatching cash and other valuables at gunpoint, along with other accomplices. The accused has been identified as Zazay alias Zaray s/o Naqeeb-Ullah alias Gul Agha r/o Afghanistan while police team also recovered snatched cash worth Rs. 5 million, two cars, DVR and weapons from him. Moreover, during preliminary investigation, the accused confessed of his involvement in incidents of looting people in areas of PS Shalimar, PS Ramna, PS Kohsar, PS Golra and Rawalpindi. The nabbed accused has already criminal record and further investigation is underway from him DIG Operations has appreciated this overall performance and directed all police officials to ensure effective policing measures in their respective areas.
