Kishmiris seek UN role over Indian cruelties

SRINAGAR: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, people belonging to different walks of life have sought urgent intervention of the UN to resolve the lingering Kashmir dispute to mitigate their sufferings.
Talking to Kashmir Media Service over phone from Srinagar, different people including Hurriyat leaders, political activists, human rights defenders, students and traders, wishing anonymity to avoid reprisal from the Indian authorities, said that the UN needed to wake up and fulfill its obligations towards the Kashmiris.
They said that the Kashmir dispute should be discussed threadbare during the upcoming 75th summit of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) being held in New York from 15th to 30th of this month.
They said that the UN must step in to halt Modi-led fascist government’s move to change the demographic composition of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir which was meant to affect outcome of any UN-backed plebiscite in Jammu and Kashmir in future. The Kashmiri people said India’s August 05, 2019 move is a rebuke to the UN resolutions on Kashmir.–Agencies
