PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) police department has issued a letter to all regional police officers and district police officers, barring police personnel from using social media platforms.
As per details, the letter stated that police officers and personnel are not allowed to use social media platforms. Regional police officers have been directed to ensure strict implementation of this policy.
Police officers and personnel were prohibited from using TikTok, Instagram, WhatsApp, YouTube, and other social media platforms while on duty.
The guidelines also prohibit uploading of police badges or other identifiable evidence on social media, highlighting concerns over violations of standard operating procedures (SOPs).
The letter notes that several officers have been found violating these SOPs, and it calls for departmental action against violators of the new policy.
The KP police leadership has stressed that the use of social media undermines the integrity of the police force and poses a threat to the safety of personnel. –Agencies
