PESHAWAR: A case of murder has been registered on Sunday against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) former deputy speaker Mahmood Jan.
Mahmood was named along with two others in a FIR registered in the Regi Police Station Peshawar on the complaint of a local namely Murad Ali Khan. According to police officials, there was a dispute between some members of an Isa Khel tribe and Mahmood over a property in the city. One person was killed in a firing incident on Saturday.
According to the FIR, the former deputy speaker Mahmood John was trying to take possession of the old disputed property by driving an excavator and he opened fire when he was stopped.
Pertinent to mention, KP former deputy speaker Mehmood Jan had escaped from an assassination attempt when unidentified armed men opened fire on him during an event in Peshawar last December.
Jan was nominated K-P Deputy Speaker in August 2018 after being elected a second time from his home constituency PK-66 Peshawar. –Agencies
