KPK beat Southern Punjab by 75 runs in QA Trophy

Karachi: After winning the first two matches, Southern Punjab lost to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) in the third round first-class Quaid-e-Azam Trophy fixture at NBP sports complex.
SP needed 263 run-target to claim the third straight win but they were 75 runs short courtesy of brilliant bowling by Khalid Usman and Sajid Khan.
Khalid took four while Sajid picked three. Sajid finished with figures of 9/144 in the match as he took six wickets in the first innings.
SP started the fourth day on the overnight of 13/0. They lost wickets in regular intervals and couldn’t build partnerships. Umar Siddiq was the notable run-getter, scoring 56 while Mukhtar Ahmed made 38.
Yesterday, Musadiq Ahmed (86) and wicketkeeper-batsman Rehan Afridi (51) helped KP to post 246 all out in the second innings in the match. Pakistan regular Mohammad Abbas picked up four wickets for 39 runs to finish the match with 10 more wickets in his account.
SP batted for 7.3 overs after resuming the third day at 257/6 as off-spinner Sajid Khan removed all the remaining four batsmen. SP were dismissed for 288. Captain Hussain Talat (131) scored the second century of the tournament.
KP posted 304 in the first innings. Adil Amin scored unbeaten 90 runs off 181 balls with the help of nine boundaries and two sixes while Musadiq scored 41 off 55 balls laced with six boundaries and a six.
