Bishkek: Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Ruslan Kazakbaev met with Representative of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) in Kyrgyzstan Marat Usupov, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.
During the meeting, Usupov briefly informed about the UNIDO Country Partnership Program (CPP). In particular, he said tat in the past, UNIDO developed a Strategy for Sustainable Development of Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic. This document was approved by the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic in 2019.
It provides for the implementation of various industrial projects throughout the country. Such work, first of all, involves the preparation of project proposals and attraction of investments. To this end, UNIDO has developed a draft Country Development Program for the Kyrgyz Republic. If signed, within the framework of the CPP, according to the preferences of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic, UNIDO will develop project proposals in the field of industry, as well as hold 4 international forums to attract investment.
Meanwhile, the representative of UNIDO expressed concern that the process of agreeing on the draft CPP has been going on since 2018. In this regard, he turned to Kazakbaev, as the head of the foreign policy department, with a request to provide political support to the issue of signing the Program.
Usupov said that the Global Manufacturing and Industrialization Summit will be held in Dubai on November 22-23, 2021. If the CPP is signed by this date, the Kyrgyz Republic could present it during the Summit and use it as an additional platform to attract investors for the implementation of projects within the framework of the Strategy for Sustainable Development of Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic. – Agencies
