Bishkek: Kyrgyz President Sooronbay Jeenbekov held Tuesday an online meeting with Acting Director of the State Agency for Water Resources under the Government Abdybai Dzhailoobayev and Deputy Director of the State Agency for Water Resources Saipidin Momunov.
According to the press service of the Kyrgyz president, the progress made on projects on provision of clean water to the population, construction and rehabilitation of irrigation systems, and issues of water consumption accounting at reservoirs were discussed.
Acting Director of the State Agency for Water Resources Abdybai Dzhailoobayev presented information about construction works on 12 irrigation facilities in Batken, Osh and Naryn Oblasts this year. In the near future it is planned to start work on a large project – construction of the Maksat inverted syphon in Leilek region of Batken Oblast. The design and estimate documentation for seven irrigation facilities has also been finalized.
Deputy Director of the agency Saipidin Momunov reminded that the list of 715 villages without access to clean water was defined. In the priority order, 546 villages were included in the 1st category, of which in 455 villages sources of financing were identified, and the talks are underway with international development partners on the remaining villages.
In 2020, it is planned to fully provide clean water to 80 villages of the country out of these 546 villages with active assistance of donor community. In total, from 2018 to the present time, access to clean water have been provided in 122 villages.
Besides, it was noted that work is underway to digitize the activities of the State Agency, online information databases have been established, and efforts are being made to integrate with the Tunduk system of interagency e-interaction.
President Jeenbekov noted special importance of expansion of irrigation and water supply systems in settlements, which are the basis of social and economic development of the country. He emphasized the need to establish effective work with donor organizations, noting that the grant component of allocated funds for project implementation should be not less than 50%.
Sooronbay Jeenbekov reminded that implementation of national projects on providing clean water to the population and expanding irrigation systems is under his special control.

The current epidemiological situation in the country, issues of socio-economic development of the republic, opening of external borders, preparation for the autumn-winter period and the new academic year were discussed, the president’s press service said.
The head of government provided information on preparations for the gradual lifting of quarantine measures, on the progress of negotiations with foreign countries on the resumption of transport communications on a parity basis.
The prime minister also noted that the country’s airports are ready to serve passengers around the clock in compliance with sanitary and hygienic standards. The President stressed that when opening borders, it is necessary to take into account the epidemiological situation in foreign countries, in some of which the pandemic is not abating. He urged to continue to work to inform the citizens of Kyrgyzstan about the importance of self-discipline and compliance with all sanitary standards, despite the improvement in the epidemiological situation in the country.
Following the results of his working trips to the regions, the head of state also noted with satisfaction the work of financial institutions, including the Russian-Kyrgyz Development Fund, in providing concessional loans to enterprises exporting their products.
